UK Coastguard requested the launch of our lifeboats after receiving multiple 999 calls regarding two boys cut off by the incoming tide on a rocky outcrop at Newton Point. Waves were starting to break over the rock and the boys predicament was time critical as there was still two hours to go until high tide.

Once on scene the crew found one windsurfer had made it ashore whilst a second needed further assistance as his mast had snapped. Our Atlantic 85 was launched to a broken down fishing boat off Stout Point near Llantwit Major. Lifeboat crewman James Kinsella was transferred aboard the casualty vessel to assist in securing a tow line and whilst under tow back to Newton Bay, James used his day job experience and managed to get the engine running
