Porthcawl's Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched following a report of persons cut off by the tide at Newton Point. UK Coastguard had been alerted to the incident by Porthcawl NCI who had seen someone attempting to enter the water. Porthcawl Coastguard Team were also tasked to the incident. Our Atlantic 85 lifeboat (which was in the process of launching on training exercise) received an immediate tasking from UK Coastguard to assist a windsurfer in difficulty off Newton beach. The windsurfer was taken onboard the lifeboat and dropped back to the beach at Newton along with his equipment.
