As our Atlantic 85 was completing a tow at Newton UK Coastguard gave the crew a further tasking. The tasking was to a group of tombstoners at Ogmore Deeps which Porthcawl NCI had raised concerns for. We stayed on scene and gave some safety advice until our colleagues from Llantwit Major Coastguard arrived to provide further safety
As we washed the lifeboat from an early shout UK Coastguard paged our volunteers. This call was for our Atlantic 85 lifeboat to a broken down dinghy off Newton Point. The dinghy was taken under tow and back to Newton slipway.
UK Coastguard paged our volunteers who launched the D Class Lifeboat to two people and a dog cut off by the tide at the Ogmore River. They were attempting to cross the river. They were taken across to the Ogmore side to ensure they didn't risk swimming and getting swept out by the current.
