Launched to reports of 2 surfers swept around the point at Rest Bay in large surf conditions. Both our Atlantic 85 and D Class responded with the Atlantic 85 arriving on scene first. Upon arrival it was reported one surfer had come out onto rocks. We spoke to surf lifesavers from Rest Bay SLSC who had paddled out on rescue boards to assist. They had spoken to other surfers who were caught in the current and assisted them back into the main bay. Our lifeboats then performed a search of the area along with Porthcawl Coastguard from Rest Bay to Hutchwns Point to ensure there was no further surfers in danger.
Take care when surfing Rest Bay, particularly of the rip near the point. Full time lifeguard patrols have now ended for 2016.
