UK Coastguard tasked Porthcawl lifeboat by making an ‘immediate’ call via VHF to proceed to Dunraven Bay. The lifeboat was still on scene at an earlier incident at Ogmore Deeps. Information from the first informant was vague and the information passed to UK Coastguard described the casualty as being trapped. The Atlantic 85 and D Class lifeboats made best speed to the location. Once on scene our volunteers found the casualty was now on the slipway. The male had gone in the water to assist his children but slipped on rocks and injured himself. His daughter had held him up in the water for nearly 10 minutes and he was eventually pulled out onto the slipway. Our volunteers went ashore and provided first aid along with team members from Llantwit and Barry Coastguard Teams. Casualty care was provided until the arrival of a land ambulance.
