Our volunteers launched both our D Class and Atlantic 85 lifeboats to reports of 2 persons cut off by the tide at Southerndown near Witches Point. Both lifeboats arrived on scene in rough conditions to find the casualties at the base of cliffs along with an RNLI lifeguard on  who had gone ashore on a paddle board. The D Class veered back on its anchor line onto the beach to rescue both casualties whilst the Atlantic 85 stood off. Due to the conditions at the slipway at Southerndown beach the safest option was to return both casualties to Porthcawl and they were transferred to the larger Atlantic 85 lifeboat for the passage back to Porthcawl.
