Both the Atlantic 85 and D Class lifeboats were launched on service at the request of UK Coastguard following reports of a RIB with two people onboard which had broken down and was dragging anchor in the surf line at Rest Bay.

The Atlantic 85 lifeboat was first on scene and established a tow. The D class had been tasked as there was concern the RIB may be in the surf (which was 1.5-2.0m) and at risk, however once the Atlantic 85 established a tow the D class was stood down. The RIB was towed back to Porthcawl Marina.
