Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard following a report of a person having a cardiac arrest at the top of the beach at Merthyr Mawr.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires and D Class Hugo Missen both made best speed to the location. The coastguard helicopter was also tasked to the incident and located the casualty on a path from the beach as crew were making their way from the lifeboats to search for the casualty.
Once the crew arrived with the casualty they provided casualty care and assisted the winch paramedic. The casualty was then  transferred by the coastguard helicopter to a waiting ambulance at Newton Beach.
Porthcawl and Port Talbot Coastguard Teams were also tasked to the incident and provided assistance with facilitating a helicopter landing site at Newton Beach.
