Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard to a report that a casualty was stuck on a ledge of the breakwater at Porthcawl, having climbed down to recover his friends parrot. Porthcawl Coastguard team and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Serevice were also tasked to the incident.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service and the crew were able to assist the casualty down from the ledge onto the lifeboat. The lifeboat was then recovered at the slipway with the casualty onboard.
The parrot was later found at the owners home.
