Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a 999 call from a concerned member of the public reporting that two paddleboarders appeared to be in difficulty off Newton point.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service and made best speed to the location. Once on scene it was established the two were on paddle boards and both competent and in no need of further assistance. The call being a false alarm with good intent.
If you have concerns for someone in difficulty or require assistance on the coast dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
