UK Coastguard tasked Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew along with Llantwit Major Coastguard following a report that someone was flashing a light to the south eastern side of witches point. There were concerns the person was cut off by the tide and/or in need of assistance.
The charity’s Atlantic 85, Rose of the Shires was launched on service. The crew located the person at the reported location who was eventually able to get themselves to safety at the cliff ladders at Whitmore Stairs and met by the coastguard team.
The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station where it was made ready for service.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for coastguard.
