UK requested the launch of the D Class lifeboat following a report by a member of the public of a swimmer with an orange float a long way off shore at Sandy Bay, out passed the pier. The D class was tasked to locate the swimmer and check all was well. Whilst searching for the swimmer the crew spotted two swimmers at Rhych Point struggling in a rip current and at risk of being swept onto rocks by the surf. Both were taken onboard the lifeboat and dropped them onto the beach at Sandy Bay.

Please continue to take extra care if you’re looking to cool off and #RespectTheWater during the hot weather. Visit a lifeguarded beach during patrol hours and swim between the red and yellow flags.

If you get into trouble, stay calm and #FloatToLive on your back until you can control your breathing.
