Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard to investigate an object in the water off Porthcawl seafront. The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service.
Once on scene the crew located the object which turned out to be a fishing pot marker buoy. With the call being a false alarm with good intent, the crew were stood down. They retrieved the marker buoy and then returned to station.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
