UK Coastguard paged Porthcawl’s volunteer crew following a report a group of 5 teenagers had got cut off by the tide at the Ogmore river and there was concern they may attempt to cross at the river mouth.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Rose of the Shires was launched on service in moderate to rough seas and made best speed to the location and swiftly located the casualties.
The group were cold being in just swimwear but were otherwise in good spirits. All were taken onboard the lifeboat and transferred to the Ogmore side of the river where they were met by our colleagues from Llantwit Major Coastguard who ensured they got safely back to their car to get warmed up.
