Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a 999 call from a concerned member of the public reporting that two teenagers were trapped on a rock by the incoming tide at Newton point.
The charity’s D Class lifeboat Hugo Missen was launched on service and made best speed to the location. Once on scene a crew member climbed onto the rock to assist the casualties. The casualties were given lifejackets and then assisted from the rock onto the lifeboat. Once onboard the lifeboat they were transferred to Newton beach where they were met my Porthcawl and Port Talbot Coastguard teams.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
