Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a report of an elderly casualty in difficulty in the water at Newton Beach.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service and made best speed to the location. Once on scene it was established that two people had helped the casualty from the water who was now out of the water and on the beach. Crew members gave casualty care along with Porthcawl and Port Talbot Coastguard teams until the arrival of an ambulance.
With no one in any danger the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station where it was made ready for service.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
