Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard to assist Porthcawl coastguard team with a casualty who had experienced a seizure at black rocks on Newton Beach. Due to the inaccessibility of the location the D Class crew were requested to assist with medivac of the casualty.
The charity’s D class Hugo Missen was launched. Once on scene the helm assessed the situation and realised that they would need more crew to safely place the casualty in a stretcher and lift them from the rocks onto the lifeboat, so they requested the launch of the Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires.
The Atlantic 85 arrived on scene assisting the D class crew & coastguard team to safely extract the casualty from the rocks and onto the Atlantic 85. Once the casualty was onboard the Atlantic 85 both lifeboats returned to station.
