UK Coastguard tasked our volunteer crew following a report that a safety boat for a triathlon event had got into difficulty in Sandy Bay (Coney Beach). Although the safety boat had resolved the situation prior to the lifeboat launching, with strong winds (and rough seas beyond the shelter of the breakwater) the lifeboat was launched and remained in the Sandy Bay area until the end of the water based part of the triathlon to ensure no further assistance was required.

The lifeboat then returned to station where it was made ready for service.
