Porthcawl’s volunteer RNLI crew were tasked by UK Coastguard and launched the charity’s relief Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Irene Cornford to assist our colleagues RNLI Lifeguards South East Wales at Ogmore.
Two people on stand up paddleboards (SUPs) were struggling in the conditions off Ogmore and being assisted by one of the RNLI lifeguards. All were taken onboard the lifeboat and dropped ashore at Ogmore.
Please take care if you are planning to go out on a SUP. Check the tide times and forecast before you set out and be aware we have fast flowing currents in the Bristol Channel. Take a fully charged phone in a waterproof pouch and visit a lifeguarded beach during lifeguard patrol hours. For more safety advice visit: https://rnli.org/…/choose-your…/stand-up-paddle-boarding
