Whilst the crew were at Ogmore By Sea for a previous tasking they were retasked by the Coastguard to proceed to Trecco Bay following a report of a person in difficulty. The crew quickly advised those looking to cross the river that they would return to assist them. Once on scene at Trecco Bay the crew received information the person had made it to shore and required no further assistance.
The lifeboat then returned to Ogmore river mouth where a total of 16 people were assisted from the Porthcawl side to the Ogmore side of the river as a safety intervention to avoid someone attempting to cross and getting into difficulty due to the strong currents at the river mouth.
Our colleagues from Llantwit Major Coastguard were also tasked to assist with the incidents at Ogmore.
