UK Coastguard requested the launch of the charity’s relief D Class lifeboat Super G II to a report of two people on inflatable kayaks struggling in the offshore winds and outgoing tide off the seafront in Porthcawl.

Upon arriving on scene it was confirmed the kayakers had made it ashore at the seafront opposite Windsor Road. The kayakers were going to arrange a lift from a friend back to Newton from where they had launched rather than continue attempting to paddle back and the lifeboat was stood down and returned to the lifeboat station.
