Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a call from a sailing yacht which had suffered engine difficulties and was becalmed off Porthcawl near Fairy buoy.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires was launched on service and tasked to assess the situation. Once on scene the helm made the decision the best way to assist the people onboard was to take the vessel in tow back to Porthcawl Marina.
Once the vessel was safely back at the marina the crew were stood down and returned to station where the lifeboat was made ready for service.
