HM Coastguard requested the launch of the charity’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat ‘Rose of the Shires’ to assist a kite surfer who was reported to be in difficulty off Porthcawl sea front by Porthcawl NCI watch keepers.

Porthcawl’s Atlantic 85 was launched and the crew located the casualty in shallow water at Sandy Bay. A crew member went ashore to ensure all was well with the casualty.
Once the incident was resolved the lifeboat was preparing to recover when HM Coastguard re-tasked the lifeboat following a PAN PAN assistance call from a vessel in difficulty near Sker Point. The crew were requested to proceed to the location to assess the situation (launch 34 / 2023).
