Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a report that 2 people were cut off by the tide near Monknash.

Both the charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires and D Class lifeboat Hugo Missen were launched on service.

Once on scene the lifeboat crews located the 2 people who were cut off by the tide and a crew member went ashore to speak with them. Following a discussion it was established the 2 people were prepared to wait for the tide to recede as the tide was nearing high water.
The D Class crew veered back on their anchor line to recover the crew member who’d gone ashore. The lifeboats were then stood down from the incident and returned to station to be made ready for service.

In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
