Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a report a dog had gone over cliffs whilst chasing a sheep near Southerndown.

The Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service and made best speed to the location. The crew located the dog stuck on a ledge. They were able to con Llantwit Major Coastguard onto the dog’s location who carried out a rope rescue from the cliff top.

Once the dog was recovered back to the cliff top the lifeboat was stood down and returned to the lifeboat station to be made ready for service.
