Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard during their training exercise to provide immediate assistance to a group of 10 people attempting to cross the Ogmore River at the rivermouth.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires made best speed to the location. They arrived finding some of the people attempting to wade across. The crew took all 10 people onboard the lifeboat dropping them over to the Ogmore side of the river. Once all casualties were safely dropped ashore the lifeboat made its way back to station but received a further tasking request whilst it was enroute.
