Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by UK Coastguard after they’d received a 999 call with concerns for a swimmer, possibly in difficulty at Dunraven Bay in Southerndown.
The charity’s Atlantic 85, Rose of the Shires was launched on service and Llantwit Major Coastguard team were also tasked to attend.
When the volunteer crew arrived on scene they began a search of the area and it was soon established the swimmer had made it ashore at Dunraven Bay.
The Coastguard team checked the casualty required no medical assistance. Once it was confirmed the casualty was safe and well, our crew were stood down and returned to station where the lifeboat was washed down, refuelled and made ready for service.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
