HM Coastguard requested the launch of both Porthcawl RNLI’s Atlantic 85 and D class inshore lifeboats to a multi-agency incident at the river mouth, Ogmore By Sea following a report of a person in the water in difficulty.
The Atlantic 85 launched and was first on scene, shortly followed by the D Class lifeboat. Once on scene the crew observed members of the public carrying out first aid on the beach before the lifeboat crew took over and continued to administer casualty care.
Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 187 and Wales Air Ambulance were also tasked along with Coastguard Rescue Teams and other emergency services.
The casualty was subsequently airlifted and taken to hospital.
