It was with much sadness representatives from our fundraisers and crew attended the funeral of Ken Lewis earlier this week. Ken died on the 20th November at the age of 92.

Ken had been an RNLI volunteer fundraiser for nearly 40 years before he decided to retire from active service due to mobility issues in 2017.

During his time with the RNLI Ken became known throughout his home town of Maesteg as ‘Mr RNLI’ due to his passion for helping to raise money for the charity.

Such was his dedication that in the year 2000 he was awarded the Bridgend County Borough Council Mayor’s Citizenship Award.

In 2007 the RNLI recognised Ken and he was awarded the charity’s Bronze Badge for fund raising.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Ken’s family at this time. We are most grateful for the time and commitment Ken gave over the years to raise funds for us.
