In a dramatic race against the incoming tide both Porthcawl Lifeboats were launched to rescue a 14 year old holiday maker stranded waist deep on a rock just off Newton Point. Just after midday on Saturday 31st Oct both Porthcawl RNLI lifeboats Rose of the Shires and Jean Ryall launched to reports of a capsized kayaker in difficulty half a mile off Newton Point.
