Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a report of three windsurfers struggling against a strong (spring) tidal current off Newton Point, Porthcawl.
The lifeboat launched and made good speed to the location. Arriving on scene nothing was found except for a beach ball. After checking the area the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station with the call being a false alarm with good intent.
Β In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
