Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard during a training exercise launch following 999 calls that people were in difficulty in the water at Ogmore.

HM Coastguard had put out a “Mayday Relay” to two children and two adults in the water in difficulties. Both the charity’s inshore lifeboats made best speed to the incident with the Atlantic 85 arriving first. The two children had been brought ashore and were safe and well. The D class lifeboat picked up two adult swimmers and safely transferred them across the river to the Ogmore side.

📞 In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
