Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard to investigate a report of a swimmer potentially in difficulty off Sker Point.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires was launched on service and made best speed to the location and carried out a search of the area. The crew located a fishing pot buoy and following confirmation from the first informant, this was what they had spotted and raised concerns about. The lifeboat was then stood down with the call being a false alarm with good intent.
If you need help or spot anyone else in difficulty at the coast, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
