Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard following a report of 3 people in difficulty caught in a strong current at Irongate Point off Porthcawl’s seafront.

The casualties were helped to safety and provided casualty care in the first instance by our colleagues from Porthcawl Coastguard and Port Talbot Coastguard.

If you are planning on entering the water, we’d always recommend choosing a lifeguarded beach and swimming between the red and yellow flags.
If you ever find yourself in difficulty in the water, remember Float to Live:
– Tilt your head back with ears submerged
– Relax, breathe normally and move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
– It’s ok if your legs sink, we all float differently
– Once you’re over the initial shock, call for help or swim to safety
If you need help or spot anyone else in difficulty at the coast, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
