UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Atlantic 85 lifeboat to a 23ft yacht 2.5Nm south west of Porthcawl with three people onboard. The yacht was struggling against the tide under sail and had engine difficulties.

Our volunteer crew made best speed to the last known location of the casualty vessel in moderate to rough seas. With visibility down to less than a mile and no VHF radio contact, locating the yacht was challenging but the crew found it near to East Scarweather buoy. Once on scene with the yacht a crew member was transferred onboard and it was taken under tow to Porthcawl Marina.
