Both lifeboats were launched to a fishing vessel which had suffered engine difficulties and run aground at Southerndown beach. Due to the incoming tide and swell conditions the vessel was at risk of being smashed against cliffs. With assistance from Llantwit Major Coastguard a tow was established by the D Class which towed the vessel out to deeper water. The tow was then transferred to our Atlantic 85 which towed it in to Porthcawl Marina.
