UK Coastguard requested the launch of our D Class lifeboat following a report of 10 persons cut off by the tide on a bank of the Ogmore River near the sewage works.

Our volunteer crew were quickly on scene finding the group stuck on a bank the Porthcawl side of the river. The initial plan was to transfer the people to the Ogmore side of the river via the lifeboat. Just as we were preparing life jackets for the transfer a Dwr Cymru worker who was leaving the sewage works offered us assistance. He unlocked a series of gates to allow access to the bridge so the group could safely get back to the other side of the river. Once all persons were safely back on the Ogmore side we were stood down and returned to station.
