UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Atlantic 85 lifeboat following a report of two swimmers struggling in large swell at Southerndown. Whilst the lifeboat was making its way to Southerndown information was passed that the swimmers were safely ashore and the lifeboat was retasked to assist the D Class with an ongoing incident at Sandy Bay regarding a swimmer who had been reported to be in difficulty. The swimmer at Sandy Bay was found to be a false alarm with good intent and the Atlantic 85 lifeboat was stood down.
