Our volunteer crew were tasked by UK Coastguard and launched the Atlantic 85 lifeboat following a call from a concerned member of the public who had seen a loan kayaker going onto Tusker Rock.

The lifeboat was tasked along with Llantwit Major Coastguard to investigate and establish the kayaker was safe, well and required no assistance.

On arriving on scene the crew were able to establish the kayaker was well equipped with lifejacket and other safety equipment and was able to return back to shore unaided. Based on this information the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

If you have concerns for something you’ve seen on the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. We’d far rather be called to investigate something of concern than not at all.

Thank you to our colleagues from RNLI Lifeguards South East Wales who are patrolling Sandy Bay and Trecco Bay over the Easter weekend for clearing the beach and a launch area for us.
