Porthcawl RNLI have cashed in on the generous donation from J & J Wilson Ltd. who run three shops on the Parkdean, Trecco Bay Holiday Park in the town.

The money was raised from the sale of Heritage products at their Supermarket, Gift and Rock shops during the 2015 season.

Area Manager for J & J Wilson Ltd, Trish Middleton said: ‘Our Company chose the RNLI at Porthcawl to benefit from the proceeds of the sale of our Heritage product range as we realise the important work that the lifeboat volunteers do along our coastline and in particular here along the beaches that the caravan site covers. Our company has a key moto MADL – Making a Difference Locally, and we believe that this donation fits with our thinking. To visit the lifeboat station and meet some of the volunteers was a privilege for myself and local Store Manager Lee Tandy, seeing both lifeboats at the ready made us feel that the donation truly was going to help fund this committed group of volunteers. We were pleased too that Parkdean’s regional director, Karl Schmidtke took time out of his busy schedule and supported us with this donation, emphasising the importance that is placed by both our companies on the work carried out by the RNLI’.

Lifeboat Operations Manager, Philip Missen MBE said: ‘We were delighted to have been selected as benefactors of this generous donation. With our crews committed to training both on a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning we will use the money towards our training budget’.

Station Treasurer, David Shillaw, commented: ‘As a charity all RNLI costs are met by the generosity of companies like J&J Wilson Ltd and indeed members of the public too. We are very grateful as this is a great benefit to our fundraising efforts when donations of this nature come from such unexpected sources’.
