Our volunteers were paged by UK Coastguard who had received a call from a concerned fisherman regarding a flashing light close to the breakwater. Our Atlantic 85 was launched on service and conducted a thorough search of the area along with Porthcawl Coastguard. With nothing further found by ourselves or the local coastguard team the light was believed to be reflective tape on a buoy at the harbour entrance with the call being a false alarm with good intent. We were stood down by UK Coastguard. Strong Easterly winds gusting to force 6 created hazardous conditions on the slipway meaning the lifeboat was unable to do a conventional stern first recovery. As a result the lifeboat recovered with a bow first method into a net.
