Our volunteers launched both our Atlantic 85 and IB1 lifeboats this morning following a 999 call to the coastguard reporting that a surfer had been swept around the point at Rest Bay and was drifting in the direction of Hutchwns Point.

The lifeboats conducted a thorough search of the area between Rest Bay and Fairy Buoy with Porthcawl Coastguard searching from the land. Following a search of approximately 60 mins we were stood down by Milford Haven Coastguard based on the fact the search area had been well covered, there was lots of floating debris in the water which could easily have been mistaken as a surfer or the surfer had come out onto rocks.
