Helmsman Chris Page has received a very special invitation. He will be one of 1200 public guests at the wedding of the marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle.

Lifeboat operations manager Phil Missen said, ’It is a great honour to have one of our crew members representing Porthcawl RNLI at Windsor Castle. Chris has been an exceptional volunteer and dedicated many hours for the benefit of our charity. Besides his normal crew duties he manages our website and Facebook page. He was also heavily involved in RNLI video editing, some of which was used in last year’s BBC programme, ‘Saving Lives at Sea’, which featured some of our rescues. His invitation is well deserved and I hope that the experience will be a treasured memory for Chris’.

Chris who lives in Nottage Porthcawl works in the family business and has been a crew member for 14 years. He was nominated for his contribution to the local community and will be invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle to watch the arrival of guests and listen to the Wedding Service broadcast live. After the ceremony they will watch the Bride and Groom Carriage Procession. Chris said, ‘I am looking forward to being at Windsor Castle on this historical day. It will be an unforgettable day, I am very proud to have been given this invitation’.
