CANCELLED – Father Christmas arriving by Porthcawl Lifeboat Sat 14th Dec 6pm

Sadly we have taken the decision to cancel due to forecasted bad weather. Whilst our volunteer crews are ready to launch 24/7 in all manner of conditions we have taken the disappointing decision to cancel the event following discussions with Father Christmas.

It looks highly likely there will be strong winds at 6pm on Saturday and we didn’t feel it would be a particularly enjoyable event for those planning to attend. Father Christmas and our crew were also a little worried that him transferring from his sleigh to the lifeboat in high winds may result in a mishap. It’s not something we practise regularly like we do with our colleagues from the UK Coastguard Helicopter. Father Christmas also really didn’t want a repeat of the time he got stuck on the green pole and the lifeboat had to rescue him. He was most embarrassed by this.

We had hoped to collect some funds for the RNLI during this event as we’re busier than ever but our income is down. If you’d like to support us this Christmas please visit: RNLI.org/PerfectStorm

Join us at the rear of Jennings Building to see Santa arrive into Porthcawl Marina onboard our Atlantic 85 lifeboat.

Santa will arrive onboard the lifeboat shortly after 6pm.

Afterwards there will be an opportunity to meet Santa within our boathouse.

Please note: the event will be subject to operational requirements and weather conditions.
